Tustin and Irvine showcase high school art – Orange County Register

Irvine and Tustin held art exhibitions recently to showcase work by local middle school and high school students.

Students whose work is featured in the High School Art Exhibition, hosted by the Irvine Fine Arts Center, were honored at a reception May 5. The multimedia exhibit, open through Friday, May 26, showcases drawings, paintings, photography, printmaking, digital media, sculpture and ceramics by students from Irvine high schools. The Irvine Fine Arts Center is at Heritage Community Park, 14321 Yale Ave.

Center staff members evaluated all work submitted and selected the pieces included in the exhibit. The winners were chosen by artist, designer, educator and curator Rachelle W. Chuang. They are listed below.

1ST PLACE: “Still Life,” Lilian Nguyen, University

“Still Life” by Lilian Nguyen of University High School was awarded first place in the High School Art Exhibition hosted by the Irvine Fine Arts Center.

2ND PLACE: “High Society,” Elisa Kim, Crean Lutheran

“High Society” by Elisa Kim of Crean Lutheran High School was awarded second place in the High School Art Exhibition hosted by the Irvine Fine Arts Center.

3RD PLACE: “Pink Peppercorn Tree,” Monica Tang, University

“Pink Peppercorn Tree” by Monica Tan of University High School was awarded third place in the High School Art Exhibition hosted by the Irvine Fine Arts Center

HONORABLE MENTIONS: “Dada,” Leane Chung, University; “It Ain’t No Trick to Get Clean Quick,” HoJung Kim, Woodbridge; “Peace & Struggles,” Meanhie Kim, Crean Lutheran; “Daily Commute,” Chad Page, Irvine; “Anthem Book Cover,” Nancy Wu, University
