3. Prosecutors in Texas are bringing murder charges against the police officer accused of fatally shooting 15-year-old Jordan Edwards near Dallas last weekend.
The officer, Roy Oliver, was dismissed from the Balch Springs Police Department. Officers were responding to reports of underage drinking at a house party when the shooting occurred.

4. The Senate Intelligence Committee asked several Trump campaign associates to hand over records of their contacts with Russian officials and businesspeople.
The requests open the way for subpoenas for anyone who doesn’t comply. Among those said to have gotten requests: Roger Stone, above in July; Carter Page, Paul Manafort and Michael Flynn.
5. A Navy SEAL was killed during a raid against Shabab militants in Somalia.
It was believed to be the first American combat death in Somalia since the “Black Hawk Down” battle in 1993, which caused the U.S. to pull out of the country.
President Trump’s second nominee for Army Secretary, Mark Green, withdrew himself from consideration. He had been accused of bias by L.G.B.T. groups.
