The Obama administration is preparing to announce a response, which may include “cyber-operations,” to the alleged Russian interference in last month’s election, according to a Washington Post report citing anonymous U.S. officials.
The report says that details are still being finalized but are likely to include new economic sanctions.
President Obama has said that his administration would respond to Russian meddling in the U.S. election.
“I think there is no doubt that when any foreign government tries to impact the integrity of our elections, that we need to take action and we will — at a time and a place of our own choosing,” Mr. Obama told NPR’s Steve Inskeep earlier this month. “Some of it may be … explicit and publicized.
