Rangers have launched a £250,000 bid for Port Vale goalkeeper Jak Alnwick.
The Ibrox club hope to conclude the deal ahead of Tuesday’s transfer deadline to replace back-up Matt Gilks, who has been linked with a move to Wigan Athletic.
Alnwick is thought to have a release clause in his contract, which has 18 months left to run. Rangers believe they have offered enough to activate it but Port Vale chairman Norman Smurthwaite claimed the deal was not yet assured.
