Jeffrey Archer caught being 'economical with the truth'

Jeffrey Archer, 76, is embroiled in a sporting row in India after tweeting: ‘Disappointed Indians didn’t applaud [England captain] Eoin Morgan’s century. I have stood and applauded at Lord’s for Tendulkar, Dravid, Laxman and Shastri.’ 

The Indian news service DNA says: ‘Jeffrey Archer has spent time in prison for perjury, so we are not surprised that he was being economic with the truth, but we ought to point out that Tendulkar and Laxman had never scored centuries at Lord’s.’

While Tory big beasts such as ex-chancellor George Osborne are filling their boots in the private sector, hawking the information and contacts they acquired in government, political minnows are not forgotten.
