The second of Robert Schenkkan’s LBJ plays, which look at Texas’ own political mastermind and his memorable years in the White House, is a political thrill ride exploring President Johnson’s championing of ambitious legislative work amid division over the Vietnam War and ongoing civil rights issues. He called this vision for an end to poverty and racial injustice a “Great Society.” Zach Theatre produced the first Schenkkan play, “All the Way,” in 2015, and actor Steve Vinovich returns to the role of the president after his acclaimed performance in that production.
