Cornerback reportedly cancels Alabama official visit plan – AL.com

Alabama was set to host one official visitor this weekend, the last before National Signing Day.

Jacksonville, Fla., cornerback Ameer Speed was going to make the trip, but will go to Oregon instead, per Scout.com. Now, Alabama won’t have any official visitors this weekend, but will host several juniors on unofficial visits.

The 6-foot-3, 195-pound Speed is a three-star recruit in the 247Sports composite rankings. He officially visited Georgia last weekend and has also visited Michigan State, North Carolina and Virginia Tech per his 247Sports profile.

Alabama has been recruiting other defensive backs to possibly go along with commits Kyriq McDonald (early enrollee), Daniel Wright and Xavier McDonald. The Crimson Tide coaches signed four cornerbacks last year, but one – Jared Mayden – was on the two-deep at safety this season.
