A list released publicly this week that did not include any Alabama infrastructure project is being labeled as a “sample” of projects nationwide that could be funded by a massive program backed by President Donald Trump.
The list sparked immediate concern among Alabama officials that the state’s projects had been excluded from the White House’s consideration.
The National Governor’s Association emailed the list to the nation’s governors last month to serve as a model for submissions. The email requested that governor offices submit projects to the NGA by Dec. 28.
“We’re collecting responses to the states of the three to five projects that they want included,” said Elena Waskey, a spokeswoman for the NGA. “We have 350 projects (compiled) and 45 states have responded so far, but that list isn’t public.”
