'A make-or-break day': Search to resume for missing B.C. hikers

The search for two snowshoers missing near Cypress Mountain Resort resumed on Wednesday morning, but weather and avalanche concerns are hampering efforts.

North Shore Rescue (NSR) spokesman Mike Danks said crews were scheduled to leave their Capilano Gate base at 8 a.m. PT., but heavy clouds delayed use of the Talon helicopter.

Chun Sek Lam, 64, and Roy Tin Hou Lee, 43, have been missing since Christmas Day. Their car was found abandoned at the resort that afternoon.

“We really feel this is kind of a make-or-break day for these guys,” Danks said.

Nearly two dozen volunteers spent Monday and Tuesday looking for the men, who are described as “experienced” but unprepared for an overnight trip.
